ONE appointment. ONE patient. ONE problem.

GP appointments are limited to one problem per 10-minute consultation to ensure that each issue is given adequate attention and care. This approach helps manage the GP’s workload effectively and ensures that consultations remain within a safe and manageable timeframe. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. Time Management: With a standard 10-minute appointment, addressing multiple issues can lead to rushed consultations, potentially compromising the quality of care.
  2. Quality of Care: Focusing on one problem allows the GP to thoroughly assess, diagnose, and discuss treatment options, ensuring that the patient receives comprehensive care for that particular issue.
  3. Administrative Tasks: Each consultation involves not only the face-to-face time with the patient but also administrative tasks such as note-keeping and arranging follow-ups, which require additional time.
  4. Patient Safety: By limiting the number of issues addressed in a single appointment, GPs can reduce the risk of oversight or errors, thereby enhancing patient safety.
  5. Workload Management: This approach helps GPs manage their workload more effectively, preventing burnout and ensuring they can provide high-quality care to all patients.
